IN MEMORIAM

Am/Can/Arg/PR Ch Bel-Reve's Pistolero
Peter as we called Pistolero was that once in a lifetime dog. The
one you will never have again. Peter did it all. He was Select at 5
Nationals and BOS in 1994. He was the number one Belgian Sheepdog all
systems in 1993. A multiple group and specialty winner, he remained in
the top 5 between 1994 and 1997.
Peter went to the World Show in
Argentina in 1992 where he became an Argentine Champion and went on to
a Group III. He was World Champion at the World Show in Puerto Rico in
1997 again placing in two Groups. I think our most exciting and
memorable moment was going Winners Dog and Select at the Canadian
National in 1994 under breeder judge Erna Bossi from Switzerland.
In
1994, he was BOB at Westminster. It was so exciting to see him on the
big video at Madison Square Garden expertly piloted by his handler Gerlinde Hockla. We retired Peter in 1999 at the age of 7. That year
he was only in 4 shows – the National where he won the Veteran Dogs
class and went Select under breeder judge Sharon Redmer, the
Downeaster Specialty where he was BOB again out of the Veterans Class
under breeder judge Juan Carlos Ferraro, a BSCA Regional Specialty
where he won an Award of Merit and finally the 2nd DBSC Specialty that
year where he was once again BOB out of the Veterans Class under
breeder judge Roberta Davies.
I think Peter enjoyed his retirement more
than his show career. He was the house dog and he ran things here very
well. He would watch us get ready for shows and get other dogs ready
and he always looked like – well that show stuff was fun, but being on
the couch here is truly much better. We will miss him dearly. He will
always be in our thoughts. He made us laugh, he made us cry with joy.
He was our friend and we shall forever miss him.
